The oldest fine arts institution in New Orleans, the New Orleans Museum of Art was designed by architect Samuel A. Marx and opened its doors in 1911. Originally named the Isaac Delgado Museum of Art, it was founded by wealthy sugar cane plantation owner Isaac Delgado.
